Huatulco

Discover the serenity and vibrancy of coastal living

Welcome to Huatulco

Nestled along the pristine shores of Mexico's beloved Pacific coast, Huatulco is the epitome of tranquility and natural beauty, promising an experience like no other. The town sprawls across a series of stunning bays and coves, providing abundant natural beauty and serenity that perfectly complements its vibrant community spirit. Whether you're searching for a tranquil retreat, an active lifestyle, or a blend of both, this gem of a city has something special in store for you.

“Huatulco” is short for “Bahías de Huatulco,” which is also the name of the beachfront neighborhood. Not everyone realizes this is a beachfront neighborhood; a map search for “Huatulco” often misleads Google users to “Santa Maria Huatulco,” a city center located about 15 miles inland. Instead, you’ll want to search “La Crucecita Huatulco,” which will lead you to the right place.

With its friendly atmosphere, Huatulco invites newcomers to feel at home immediately amidst its welcoming locals and international community. The neighborhood’s unique allure lies in its ability to balance luxury living with an authentic touch of Mexican charm, ensuring an enriching and comfortable lifestyle. Here, the variety of housing options caters to different tastes and budgets, ensuring everyone can find their perfect paradise.

Local Lifestyle

In Huatulco, life moves at a blissfully relaxed pace, with the sun, sea, and sand playing a central role in the daily lives of locals. The community is tightly-knit yet incredibly welcoming to newcomers, creating an inviting and serene atmosphere. Active lifestyles are encouraged here, with many outdoor activities available, such as exploring the wonders of the Parque Nacional Huatulco. For those who prefer a slower pace, the swimmable beaches offer a perfect escape, while the various shopping and dining options ensure that there’s always something new to explore and enjoy.

Dining and Entertainment

Huatulco’s culinary scene is as vibrant as its community, with an array of dining options to suit every palate. La Crucecita, the charming town center of Huatulco, is home to an assortment of local eateries and international restaurants, ensuring a delightful gastronomic experience. For grocery needs, CHEDRAUI HUATULCO is a convenient supermarket with gourmet and imported foods.

There are several intriguing options close by when it comes to enjoying the great outdoors. You might visit Playa Bocana and the adjacent eco-archeological park one day, and the next drive to

Playa Organo to explore the beach and adjacent national park. And for those evenings when you just want to unwind and take in the beauty of your surroundings, the beachside venues offer the perfect setting to relax and socialize.

Things to Do

With its stunning natural beauty and vibrant community, Huatulco ensures there’s never a dull moment. The Parque Nacional Huatulco and the adjacent Parque Nacional Huatulco II are treasure troves of biodiversity, offering miles of hiking trails, pristine beaches, and abundant wildlife, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers. Meanwhile, Bahía Tangolunda, a zone of hotels, is a viable option for those who prefer the all-inclusive type of holiday.

Playa Chahue is perfect for those looking to soak up the sun, while Barra de la Cruz has some of the best surf spots anywhere, recently hosting world surf championships. Local beaches here are quite varied — some are built with fantastic restaurants, and others (in and out of the national park) are virgin and pristine.

Also noteworthy is Huatulco’s commitment to sustainability in many forms. The town was created by the Mexican government for that purpose in the ‘80s, and the mindset has only grown since. Cleaner than most beach towns, Huatulco treats 100% of its greywaters, is powered 90% by renewable energy, and has four national parks (plus many preserved green spaces) that comprise 50% of the land. The region’s appeal also lies in its low density, low-height urban planning and an eco-archaeological park.
